The End Of The Line
It may have taken two attempts and copious amounts of painkillers, but after spinning my legs for three and a half weeks I finally managed to complete my bike tour to Geneva and back again. In the process, owing completely to the generousity of friends, family and many people I dont even know, £6515.50 was raised for Papworth Hospital's Mesothelioma Fund! Another £512.90 was also raised on top of this through Gift Aid. I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone and anyone who has donated or helped out in any way, your support has been really appreciated. I wont bore you with a blow by blow account of my time sitting on the bike but I will show you a few photos and some facts and figures that are bordering on interesting...

So its been a few months, in theory my knee should be ok again, therefore I'm heading off on the bike tomorrow! To make it fair to myself I will be picking up the bike ride where I finished off last time, Reims. Tomorrow I will spend pretty much all afternoon on trains to get back to Reims, which I will hopefully arrive in at around 7:30. As it will be late I'm going to cycle outside of town then set up the tent for the night and kick off the real cycling on Tuesday. I am still a bit nervous about my knee so to start off with I will only be doing around 30 miles a day and resting a lot; at the end of the day id rather complete the distance than do nbig distances and fail after a few days. As with before you can keep track of how im doing on twitter or facebook, so check it out!

Hopefully I wont have any problems this time, however just incase I do I have decided what I will do. On the off chance my knee goes again before I get to Geneva I plan on forcing myself to get there, whether it be 10 miles or 200 I will make it there on the bike. However once I do I will be calling it a day and catching a train home as I dont want to do any permanant damage to myself. However if I have no problems then I will be turning round at Geneva and coming back!

Thats about all I have to say on the matter, Wish me luck and thank you to everyone who has sponsored or supported me x

about 90% of the kit I will be taking with me

So as most people will know by now I had to cut the bike tour short due to knee trouble. Just incase you dont know what I am on about head over to my previous blog posts (Rumours Of My Return, Part 1 & 2)  and read about it!

So I am back in england and still have a little under 1000 miles to cover...

Sadly the rumours of my return to England have not been exaggerated. On the morning of the 5th Day, having covered 325 miles in 4 days, I woke up with a fairly annoying pain in my right knee. It got a lot worse so over the next 3 days I tried to track down some medical advice, and when I finally did it became apparent that I would not be able to complete the tour, and so had to come home. Below is the first half of my diary from the week. If you dont fancy reading it all then check out the Route and Photos for the short version...

So here we are at the second part of my diary from my first attempt at the bike tour. So far I have got rained on a lot, missed a ferry, arrived in France at 23:00, camped in a very small bare patch of a farmers field and got knocked off my bike. If you missed all this then check out 'Rumours Of My Return, Part 1'. Now to check out the second part of my diary...

Good Morning! This week I'm trying to keep it as brief as I can manage. So first off I would like to draw your attention to...

Over the past week I have been thinking a lot about possible future adventures and I have come up with a few more to add to the to-do-list; I say add but in reality this new wave of ideas has become my to-do-list. Coming up with all of these fun ideas has left me wondering, why is adventure addictive? what makes a big dream big? and why dont more people follow their weird and outlandish dreams? This all sound a bit odd at the moment but bear with me and I'll show you what I mean. hopefully it will inspire you to come up with your own adventures, I know when people talk about travelling to me it makes me want to leap out of the door and head somewhere far away...

Fundraising
So I am back home from uni for Easter, which has meant two things; 1. Lots of exercise! 2. Im actually doing more work now than at uni, weird! Fundraising is still going brilliantly, we are now on...

Gear Trouble
Last week I had to finish my 65 mile cycle at an insanely slow pace because I was under the impression that my right shifter had broken, I found out on Wednesday that I was wrong! It was in fact...
